Lifestyle in the San Fernando Valley

Life in the San Fernando Valley is an exquisite adventure. Perhaps this is because our "Valley of the Stars" has so much to offer. We can revel in safe neighborhoods that favor the traditional values the early ranchers and farmers brought with them. Nights are always exciting, too, with world-class clubs, concerts, movie theatres and playhouses to choose from. Well-kept and regulated parks and recreation areas abound, and a remarkable freeway system makes it simple to take quick jaunts to cool beaches, majestic mountains and sun-baked deserts. And, yes, there's also our enviable climate that residents of New York, Chicago and just about every other metropolis can only dream of.

Business

The San Fernando Valley has come a long way since the beginning of the 20th century when its fertile ground not only nourished the development of California's citrus industry, but also the state's fledgling movie and aviation industries. Today, the San Fernando Valley has grown into the world's center for entertainment and major supplier for aerospace and defense-related technologies, financial services, health care and high-tech manufacturing.

The Valley's business environment is served by many world-class facilities including:
The Port of Los Angeles

Los Angeles World Airports

Bob Hope Airport

Van Nuys Airport

Education

Hundreds of thousands of San Fernando Valley students attend a wide variety of area schools each day, taking advantage of the broad range of educational opportunities offered in this area.

Educational experiences to be had in and around the Valley run the gamut from world-renowned public and private universities, to excellent community colleges, vocational programs and adult schools. Continuing education programs and night classes at many schools allow thousands of employed men and women to easily continue their studies and upgrade their occupational status. In addition, some of the best public elementary schools in the County of Los Angeles are located here, as are first-rate private schools and many fine preschools and day care centers.

Manufacturing Technologies Laboratory (MTL)
The MTL
